Tonight at 9:00 pm EDT on ESPN2, Friday Night Fights is back with a doubleheader from Hartford, Connecticut, as 50 Cent has a birthday bash and Teddy Atlas mooches with the #SMSaudio team and runs what we hope will be a birthday-themed Fight Plan with Saul.
In the main event, prospect Eleider Alvarez (12-0, 8 KO) faces veteran Allan Green (32-4, 22 KO) in a 10-round catchweight bout. The original contract weight for the fight was 180 pounds, and Alvarez weighed in at 178. Green, however, missed weight by a full six pounds, and has been docked 20% of his purse, or $3,000. The fight will go on, though.
In the main co-feature event, former featherweight titlist Billy Dib (35-2, 21 KO) will look to bounce back from his loss to Evgeny Gradovich, as he faces hometown fighter Mike Oliver (25-3, 8 KO). Oliver, 33, hasn't fought since his predictable TKO-2 loss to Juan Manuel Lopez in October 2011, and any home of him becoming a contender has long since been extinguished.
Edit: Alvarez-Green is off, because Green reportedly has food poisoning. "Ate bad Chinese." Well.
