Devon Alexander's trainer and manager Kevin Cunningham has made it very clear that they have no intention of facing Amir Khan in Dubai in a much-discussed December 7 fight.
Khan (28-3, 19 KO) continues to say that his father and Richard Schaefer are speaking to "the right people" to put the fight in Dubai, but Cunningham has lost his patience with this whole bit:
"Khan don't run shit, We don't have a deal to fight Khan and we don't have any plans on going to Dubai," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
It's still believed that Alexander (25-1, 14 KO) and Khan could fight on the December 7 date, perhaps in Las Vegas or Brooklyn or wherever, but Team Alexander is entirely clear about their desire to fight in Dubai, which is to say, obviously, that they're not going to do it. I guess there's some idea that Khan would have home field advantage? Or else they just don't want to fight in Dubai. Or else they're totally keen to the scent of this "we could do the fight in Dubai or Abu Dhabi" bullshit that has been floating around for years now, with absolutely no results, and they're not willing to go along with all of that.
