Mayweather vs Canelo: Shane Mosley says Alvarez can beat Floyd

One man has been in the ring with both Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez, and Shane Mosley says that Canelo has the ability to pull the upset.

Shane Mosley spoke recently with Bernardo Osuna of ESPN Deportes about the upcoming Mayweather-Canelo fight, and gave something of a scouting report. Mosley, who lost to Mayweather in 2010 and to Canelo in 2012, believes that young Alvarez does have a chance to win the fight.

On Canelo's chances at the upset:

"Canelo has a great shot against Floyd. He's gonna do very well. I think Floyd's gonna underestimate some of his speed and power, and his movement and ability to be able to be in the ring with him. I just think it's gonna be a great fight with both guys. Canelo has to watch out that Floyd's very tricky and slick. He can't wait for him to try to wait for that perfect shot. He has to go after him, and he has to press the action and use his youth to his advantage. If he does that, it's gonna be a great fight."

On what makes Mayweather so special:

"I think what makes (Floyd) tough is his ring generalship. Being in there, it's not that he hits so hard, it's not that he's so fast, because his speed is not like, 'Oh my God, he's so fast,' it's just that he has good leg movement and ring generalship where he knows how to get out of the way and get into the right positions to get out of the way of the shots. So you have to be ready to throw the body shots, throw the right head shots, the hooks and jabs, you have to be willing to hit him on the arms a couple of times, the shoulders. Just do different things. You can't always hit him on the head. I think that's the problem a lot of people have."

On surprises against Canelo:

"When I was in the ring with Canelo what surprised me about him was his defense. He had real good defense, and it surprised me. His hand speed. The power I was pretty much -- I knew that he was gonna be strong. But physically he's strong, he has great defense, and the speed surprised me."
