There was no time wasted opening up tonight's FOX Sports 1 boxing broadcast. No entrances, no intros, no ringside talk from commentators Dave Bontempo, Bernard Hopkins, and Paulie Malignaggi. And once the bell sounded, it took Terrell Gausha no time to improve to 5-0.
Gausha (5-0, 3 KO) knocked out 20-year-old West Virginian Austin Marcum in the second round on a body shot, which put Marcum on the canvas, writhing in pain, where the fight was called off. Marcum (5-4, 3 KO) also suffered a knockdown at the bell in the first round, leaning over the ropes, leading referee Benjy Esteves to administer a count.
Gausha, 25, is a middleweight prospect and 2012 U.S. Olympian who did face a guy in Marcum who came to fight, but just was well out of his depth. "I knew I had to touch the body, and once I touched his body and got that reaction, I knew I had to stay there," he told Malignaggi in the ring after the fight.
