Wilder vs Liakhovich, Moreno vs Urina, DeMarco vs Monterrosa, more: Boxing TV schedule for August 5-10

Deontay Wilder's return to action highlights a fairly quiet weekend, the last we'll see before the action gets hot and heavy on the boxing schedule.

Monday, August 5

BoxNation (UK), 2:00 pm EDT, Bunce's Boxing Hour.

Thursday, August 8

Sky Sports (UK), 1:00 pm EDT, Ringside.

FOX Sports 3 (AUS), 6:00 am EDT, Corey McConnell vs Jerry Nardo, Emmett Gazzard vs Fred Mundabry. I suspect it may be a long time more before we see another Emmett vs Fred matchup in professional boxing. 2012 Aussie Olympians Damien Hooper and Jeff Horn are also in action, both standing at 3-0 (3 KO) as professionals thus far.

Friday, August 9

SHO / BoxNation (UK), 10:00 pm EDT, Deontay Wilder vs Siarhei Liakhovich, Francisco Vargas vs Brandon Bennett, Jermall Charlo vs Antwone Smith. This Special ShoBox tripleheader is pretty decent. Liakhovich is pretty much worn out, but he still represents a step up from Audley Harrison and the rest of the guys that Wilder has faced for 28 straight fights. This should be another knockout, though -- Wilder has major power and Liakhovich likely isn't good enough to expose the flaws that are surely still there, not that we get much chance to see much of those flaws. Vargas-Bennett pits a pair of unbeaten super featherweights, while Charlo is the less-experience twin, and faces perennial spoiler Smith in a good matchup. Gary Russell Jr is also apparently fighting on this card, but his opponent sucks so much it's not even going to be on TV. BLH will have live coverage.

ESPN2, 10:00 pm EDT, Rustam Nugaev vs Jose Hernandez, Jose Pedraza vs Gabriel Tolmajyan. Nugaev is a trial horse sort who blasted then-unbeaten Jonathan Maicelo in April, so he's back on FNF against Fort Worth's Jose Hernandez, whose record doesn't look like much at a glance, but he's pushed some prospects pretty damn hard over his career. Pedraza has the most upside of anyone on the card, but it's easy to be skeptical of basically all Puerto Rican prospects right now. Tolmajyan can't punch, but he beat Jorge Maysonet Jr on the same show where Nugaev beat Maicelo. If I were Pedraza, I might have avoided this card.

TyC Sports (ARG), 10:00 pm EDT, Monica Silvina Acosta vs Belinda Laracuente.

TV Publica (ARG), 10:00 pm EDT, Matias Carlos Adrian Rueda vs Diego Daniel Tejerina.

Saturday, August 10

TyC Sports (ARG) / TV Max 9 (PAN), 10:00 pm EDT, Anselmo Moreno vs William Urina, Oscar Escandon vs Nehomar Cermeno, Ogleidis Suarez vs Liliana Palmera. Did Golden Boy sign Moreno just to serve him up to Abner Mares? Hey, maybe. They're not promoting this fight, which is a Panama City homecoming for Moreno against Colombia's Urina, who has fought scrubs since getting routed by Omar Narvaez back in 2011.

Televisa (MEX), 11:30 pm EDT, Dante Jardon vs Gamaliel Diaz, Jessica Nery Plata vs Jasseth Noriega, Mauricio Pintor vs Jose Emilio Perea.

TV Azteca (MEX), 11:30 pm EDT, Antonio DeMarco vs Fidel Monterrosa, Daniel Rosas vs Roberto Castaneda.

UniMas, 12:00 am EDT (Tape Delay), Gamalier Rodriguez vs Jorge Pazos, Ronald Cruz vs Rodolfo Armenta, Felix Verdejo vs Guillermo Delgadillo. Jesse Hart may also be on this show, I guess. He's on the card, so I guess it's a swing fight. Verdejo is the fighter to tune in to see.
