Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez will be in the main event on September 14, and it's going to be the biggest fight of the year. The Showtime pay-per-view undercard is now totally finalized, too, as the first two fights of the broadcast have been signed.
You all know that Danny Garcia will face Lucas Matthysse in a WBC/WBA junior welterweight title fight in the main co-feature of the night, which is a big fight in itself, and could have easily been a Showtime main event. There's another world title bout set, as Ishe Smith will defend his IBF junior middleweight title against Carlos Molina, and Ashley Theophane will face Pablo Cesar Cano in the PPV opener.
Smith (25-5, 11 KO) and Molina (21-5-2, 6 KO) were supposed to fight on July 19, but the bout was canceled when Smith withdrew due to injury. Ishe won the IBF belt early this year from K9 Bundrage, and Molina is considered one of the division's best fighters, a spoiler who has a dubious W-L record that doesn't reflect just how effective he is in the ring.
Theophane (33-5-1, 10 KO) is a former British champ at 140 pounds, and may be best known in the States for a disputed win over Delvin Rodriguez, and a disputed loss to Danny Garcia. The 32-year-old Londoner has been in Mayweather's camp recently, and signed with Mayweather Promotions just this week. Cano (26-3-1, 20 KO) has lost two straight to Paulie Malignaggi and Shane Mosley, but gave both of them good fights.
Are you happy with the overall card, or were you already 100% sold with just the top two fights, and these are simply what happens before?
