Floyd Mayweather: 'I don't get nervous, I don't get butterflies'

Floyd Mayweather speaks with BoxNation briefly ahead of his fight with Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night.

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

Floyd Mayweather took a moment to speak with UK carrier BoxNation about Saturday night's fight with Canelo Alvarez, which will air exclusively on the network in the United Kingdom, as well as "what it's all about."

BoxNation

"Why have yourself untouchable?"

Floyd Mayweather

"I haven't branded myself untouchable, I just dedicated myself to my craft and just believed in my skills and had a tremendous team behind me. I had a brilliant game plan."

BoxNation

"Canelo's said you've underestimated him. Why would he have that thought?"

Floyd Mayweather

"Because I'm not nervous. Because I'm not nervous and it's just another day. He knows I don't get nervous. I don't get butterflies. He's just another opponent to me."

BoxNation

"Does the media circus around you, it gets bigger and bigger, does it bother you?"

Floyd Mayweather

"It's life. This is what I chose. Of course a lot of times, I wish I could take pictures with every fan. I wish I could sign autographs for every fan. I can't, so that bothers me, but I'm thankful for everybody that's supported me over the years."

BoxNation

"How proud are you when you see your kids, when they walk around seeing you get this attention?"

Floyd Mayweather

"It's not about that. It's not about the attention, it's not about the money. It's about keeping your family close and teaching your children responsibility. Teaching your kid responsibility and just having manners. That's what it's about. You want your daughters to grow up to be beautiful young ladies and be smart and intelligent, and you want the same thing for your boys."
