Tonight at 10:15 pm EDT on HBO, we'll see a pair of headline bouts from the StubHub Center in Carson, CA, and the Bell Centre in Montreal, following the premiere of Bradley-Marquez 24/7 at 9:45.
From Montreal, WBC light heavyweight titlist Adonis Stevenson (21-1, 18 KO) will defend for the first time against Tavoris Cloud (24-1, 19 KO). Stevenson, 36, knocked out Chad Dawson in 76 seconds on June 8 to win the belt, while Cloud, 31, is coming off of his first career loss in March against Bernard Hopkins. The winner is mandated to face Tony Bellew, and likely by the end of 2013 at that.
From California, we'll see the return of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (46-1-1, 32 KO) as he faces Bryan Vera (23-6, 14 KO) in a 173-pound catchweight bout that has changed dates and weights several times, and is finally actually going to happen. Vera, 31, has been compensated for the fight's weight being pushed up to 173 from 168 this week, as the 27-year-old Chavez simply wasn't going to be able to make weight otherwise.
Our live coverage will actually begin at 6:30 pm EDT, however, as we'll be here to cover the live streaming undercard on Top Rank TV, featuring the likes of Diego Magdaleno, Karim Mayfield, Oscar Valdez, Jose Felix Jr, Matt Korobov, and more in action.
