On the heels of a proposed HBO fight between Tomasz Adamek and Bryant Jennings falling apart, Main Events announced today that Adamek will be back on November 16, headlining again on NBC. Adamek will be facing Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov in a 12-round bout.
Adamek (49-2, 29 KO) will be looking for career win number 50, while Glazkov (15-0-1, 11 KO) shoots for the biggest win of his career. The 36-year-old Adamek has been looking vulnerable in some recent fights, but he was sharp in August against Dominick Guinn after taking a break from the sport. Glazkov's best win to date came last December in the first Main Events on NBC show, when he beat Tor Hamer in four rounds after Hamer quit on his stool. That same night, Adamek won a very controversial decision over Steve Cunningham.
11 months later, the two victors will meet at a venue to be determined, almost surely in the northeast.
"We are quite pleased to present this classic match-up between a tough, highly respected veteran and two-division former world champion in Adamek, and an exciting, young up-and-coming former Olympic medalist in Glazkov on our next NBC afternoon broadcast," said promoter Kathy Duva via press release.
"Being back on network TV for the third time in just 11 months makes this event that much more special. When Adamek appeared on NBC, last December, he brought the biggest television audience of 2012. We won't be surprised if Adamek-Glazkov garners the biggest audience on broadcast or cable television for 2013, as well. I cannot thank everyone at NBC Sports enough for this incredible platform and the support that they have shown for professional boxing over the past two years."
Does the 28-year-old Glazkov have a good shot at the big victory, or will Adamek prove to be on another level?
