Adrien Broner vs Marcos Maidana PPV could head to December 14

Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana are still discussing a fight, which would headline a Showtime pay-per-view on December 14.

USA TODAY Sports

The proposed Adrien Broner vs Marcos Maidana fight is still being discussed, as the parties will be in Las Vegas this week for the Mayweather-Canelo fight. Dan Rafael reports that a new date for the fight, which would headline a Showtime pay-per-view, is being discussed. The potential bout has moved from November 9 to December 14.

Maidana's manager Sebastian Contursi will meet with Al Haymon, who advises both Broner and Maidana, and Golden Boy, who promote the fighters.

"We talked with Al Haymon only regarding the new date, Dec. 14," Contursi said. "We didn't discuss any numbers yet, but we are travelling to Las Vegas for the Mayweather fight and we'll meet Al there to start the negotiations."

Broner (27-0, 22 KO) and Maidana (34-3, 31 KO) would meet for Broner's WBA welterweight title, which he won from Paulie Malignaggi on June 22. While there's no doubt that pay-per-view is not ideal for this fight, the good news is that it's a fight people want to see. Its status as a pay-per-view bout is merely due to budget issues this late in the year at Showtime. There's nowhere else to put this fight for the time being, and it happening is better than it not happening.

Will you buy the show, and if so, do you plan to buy all four major PPVs this fall, if this one is made?
