Shane Mosley discusses Canelo-Angulo, Mayweather-Khan, Maidana, hardest hitters he's faced

Sugar Shane Mosley spoke with Fight Hub TV's Marcos Villegas about the upcoming Canelo Alvarez vs Alfredo Angulo fight, plus Floyd Mayweather and potential matchups with Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana, the hardest hitters he's faced, and more.

Marcos Villegas

Does Khan-Mayweather -- is that not as interesting as if Maidana were thrown into the mix, in your opinion?

Shane Mosley

It would probably be more interesting with Maidana, because Maidana hits harder and has a puncher's chance, whereas Amir Khan is kinda fast and stuff and he throws a lot of fast punches. But Mayweather is so slick with angles it might be hard for Amir Khan to get off unless Mayweather gets old quick, unless he can't move. But Mayweather's gonna move off the line and he might not get hit with those shots that Amir Khan can hit a lot of the guys with. Maidana might be a more exciting fight, but Amir Khan's exciting, too, I guess.

Villegas

"I guess"?

Mosley

Has Amir Khan ever fought (Maidana)?

Villegas

He fought Maidana but he almost got knocked out in the 10th round. Maidana's a different fighter now since training with Robert. To me, he's completely different. He uses his jab now--

Mosley

He works smarter.

Villegas

Yeah, he does. I think he's a completely different fighter to (three) years ago when he fought Amir Khan and to me that's why it would make it interesting. We all thought Canelo would press Mayweather and he didn't do that, he decided to box in the middle of the ring and it wound up biting him in the butt. I think Maidana would press him all the way through. I know I mentioned Canelo, he's gonna fight Angulo, what do you think of that matchup?

Mosley

I personally think Canelo might be a little too sharp for Angulo. They're both strong and everything, but Canelo has pretty good boxing skills and he's young, and he does have -- he's very good with the counters and he has a sharp punches. He might be a little sharp for Angulo, but we don't know.

Villegas

Is Canelo the hardest-hitting puncher you've ever fought, or who is it?

Mosley

No, no, no.

Villegas

How'd he compare? Is he up there?

Mosley

Uh, kinda. He has more of a snap. His punches were more like Mayweather's. Mayweather and Canelo had similar punching power. Whereas, um--

Villegas

Like, Manny had a little bit more snap, or--

Mosley

Manny has more snap but it's not, it's not as much power. But Vernon Forrest had good hitting power. He'd be probably the hardest hitter that I've been in the ring with.

Villegas

Who's the toughest fight that you had in your career, the guy who gave you the most problems?

Mosley

I mean, the toughest, grueling fight was probably, like -- I mean, it was more a boring fight, but it was tough because of his style. Winky Wright. It was tough because I was hitting his gloves, he was bigger than me. It was tougher than some of the other fights I was in.
