Undefeated WBO super featherweight titlist Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28 KO) is set to defend his belt tomorrow night in what may be his final outing at 130 pounds, as he and challenger Juan Carlos Burgos (30-1-2, 20 KO) both made weight on Friday for the Saturday night HBO main event from New York City at the Madison Square Garden Theater.
Garcia, 26, weighed in at 129.2 pounds. Burgos, also 26, was a shade lighter at 129 even.
The heavyweight co-feature is also set and ready. In what could an all-action slugfest sort of heavyweight bout, undefeated Bryant Jennings (17-0, 9 KO) and Artur Szpilka (16-0, 12 KO) weighed in at 225 and 223.6 pounds, respectively, looking fit and in good shape. This is the HBO debut for both fighters, and Jennings' first bout under new promoter Gary Shaw. The 29-year-old Philly fighter is five years older than his Polish opponent, a 24-year-old bomber best known for two Chicagoland wars with Mike Mollo.
