Martinez vs Cotto -- or Cotto vs Martinez -- negotiations look finished after final, silly hurdle is cleared

Sergio Martinez's team believes that they have a set fight on June 7 to face Miguel Cotto on HBO pay-per-view, with the final hurdle -- the naming of the fight -- cleared.

Negotiations might finally be over, and we may just be an official announcement away from having a fully finalized June 7 HBO pay-per-view bout between middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez and three-division titlist Miguel Cotto, to take place at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The final sticking point reportedly was the naming of the fight. Martinez, as champion, felt his name should have gone first in advertising. Cotto, who is the bigger moneymaker of the two and the A-side in terms of drawing fans to the fight in New York, felt his name should go first.

So it will reportedly officially be "Cotto-Martinez," and not "Martinez-Cotto." The good news is we can probably expect old farts to whine and moan about that being INAPPROPRIATE! They'll probably also get all up in arms and start throwing their VHS copies of Tuesday Night Fights all over their "Man Cave" if Cotto walks out second on fight night.

Since we at BLH are rebels AND traditionalists, the fight coverage page will be called "Sergio Martinez vs Miguel Cotto," but the permalink will start with "cotto-vs-martinez" because, look, boxing is a business.
