Thursday, October 16
PPV (AUS), 4:00 am EDT, Joseph Parker vs Sherman Williams. Promoters are hoping there will be a rash of fight fans in Australia who feel compelled to pay $39.99 to see Sherman Williams at age 42.
Friday, October 17
BoxNation (UK), 3:00 pm EDT, Armed Forces Boxing.
Telemundo, 11:30 pm EDT, Edgar Ortega vs Pablo Munguia.
Saturday, October 18
PolSat Sport (POL), 5:00 pm EDT, Krzysztof Glowacki vs Thierry Karl.
NBC Sports, 9:00 pm EDT, Steve Cunningham vs Natu Visinia. I was hoping this one was on in the afternoon, but it is not. Cunningham has won two straight, including a very good fight in April with Amir Mansour, and now faces 30-year-old Visinia, who is 10-0 (8 KO) and has only fought four and six round fights in his career, so this is a big step up for him. Visinia generally weighs 270-280 pounds, so he'll have a weight advantage of some note. We'll have a thread up for this one and at least get the co-feature with live coverage, but obviously we're switching to HBO at 10. BLH will have live coverage.
HBO / PPV (AUS), 10:00 pm EDT, Gennady Golovkin vs Marco Antonio Rubio, Nonito Donaire vs Nicholas Walters. A nice doubleheader as HBO returns to the boxing game for the first time since roughly 1938, with GGG likely to steamroll Rubio in the main event and establish a west coast following (or so the hope goes). Flying under the radar is Donaire-Walters, which is a very intriguing matchup and pretty dangerous for Nonito on paper. BLH will have live coverage.
HBO, ~11:30 pm EDT, 24/7: Road to Hopkins vs Kovalev. A one-episode preview for the November 8 fight between Hopkins and Kovalev, which is probably the most intriguing fight on the boxing schedule for the remainder of 2014. It will start after the live fights are completed on HBO, so anywhere between 11:15 and Midnight, I would guess.
