Tonight at 11 pm EDT on UniMas, top prospect Jose Ramirez returns in a junior welterweight main event, with heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr in action in the co-feature from Fresno, California.
Ramirez (11-0, 8 KO) will be facing veteran David Rodela (17-9-3, 7 KO), best known perhaps as a veteran of Manny Pacquiao's training camps. The 32-year-old Rodela broke a four-fight losing streak his last time out on July 11 in Oxnard, but he's expected to be a speed bump for the 22-year-old Ramirez, a U.S. Olympian in 2012 who has adapted very nicely to the pro game thus far.
Ruiz (22-0, 16 KO) is back after a couple of false starts due to a pair of fights that were canceled this summer. The 25-year-old "Destroyer" will face Kenny Lemos (12-8-2, 8 KO) in a pure tune-up fight, a step back in competition if anything. Lemos is a 4/6 round fighter who hasn't fought since June 2013, when he gave James Toney an eight-round decision win.
