Massachusetts welterweight Danny O'Connor will return to the ring tonight in Plymouth, Mass., taking on Virginia's Andrew Farmer in a Golden Boy-promoted main event on FOX Sports 1. BLH will be here with live coverage, which will also include the return of former lightweight title challenger Sharif Bogere.
O'Connor (23-2, 7 KO) is coming off of a loss to veteran Vivian Harris last October, so he's been out of the ring a year now. The 29-year-old also lost to Gabriel Bracero back in 2011, and really has the résumé of a northeast club fighter, which is alright because he can draw a decent crowd usually.
Farmer (18-2, 7 KO) is a 29-year-old with another club-type résumé, mostly fighting in six and eight round bouts. Tonight's fight is scheduled for 10, the first time in his career he's faced that situation. The hope here is that it's a good fight, as this is anything but a battle of contenders.
Sharif Bogere (25-1, 17 KO) will look to keep his rebound run alive against Fernando Garcia (30-6-2, 18 KO) in a 10-round junior welterweight bout. The 26-year-old Bogere has won two straight since losing a vacant lightweight title fight to Richar Abril in March 2013.
Since there's usually a third fight to these shows, we could see one of several prospects in action. Super middleweight Jason Quigley (2-0, 2 KO), light heavyweight D'Mitrius Ballard (6-0, 5 KO), and middleweight Mark DeLuca (11-0, 8 KO) are all scheduled to fight this evening.
