Wednesday, October 8
FOX Sports 3 (AUS), 6:00 am EDT, Big Time Boxing. This boxing is anything but "big time," but it's a live show with people fighting on it.
ESPN2 / Main Event PPV (AUS), 9:00 pm EDT, Sam Soliman vs Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell vs Nick Brinson. What is for now ESPN2's final card of 2014 is headlined by 40-year-old IBF middleweight titlist Soliman against 36-year-old former undisputed champ Taylor at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Taylor will have home field advantage in most ways: it's in the United States, it's near his home in Arkansas, and he's got Al Haymon behind him still. Plus, if he wins, hey, maybe Haymon can sacrifice him to someone with a future. So honestly, as worn out as Jermain Taylor is, there are a lot of reasons to suspect Jermain will win this fight, but the last of them is that he still has punch resistance, even against a guy like Soliman, who isn't a puncher. As for Soliman, he still takes a shot with the best of them, and he's been fighting as well recently as he ever has. Dirrell's fight in the co-feature is another baby step, but that's about all he seems truly interested in, too. Brinson is a capable enough guy, but Dirrell should win with ease. BLH will have live coverage.
Friday, October 10
FOX Sports 1, 10:00 pm EDT, Ronny Rios vs Robinson Castellanos, Antonio Orozco vs Steve Forbes, Diego De La Hoya vs Luis Ruiz Lizarraga Jr. Now listen, I'm not going to tell you that this card is good, because it's 2014 and it has Steve Forbes, but. Well. It's on TV. BLH will have live coverage.
TV Publica (ARG), 10:00 pm EDT, Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna vs Jose Alberto Clavero.
TyC Sports (ARG), 10:00 pm EDT, Marcelo Esteban Coceres vs Adonisio Francisco Reges.
Saturday, October 11
Sky Sports 1 (UK), 3:30 pm EDT, Anthony Joshua vs Denis Bakhtov, Lee Selby vs Josh Brunker. Joshua figures to stop Bakhtov about as easily as he's stopped everyone else, but it's a nice next step for a ninth pro fight. The 34-year-old Bakhtov is a veteran, but he's also a small heavyweight at about 5'11", and Joshua will tower over him. Plus, Joshua's better. So there's that, too. Selby-Brunker is a decent matchup, and John Ryder will be back on the undercard, too. And some other guys. BLH will have live coverage.
TyC Sports (ARG), 10:00 pm EDT, Matias Ariel Vidondo vs Marcelo Fabian Dominguez.
BoxNation (UK), 11:00 pm EDT, Carlos Molina vs Cornelius Bundrage. Carlos Molina will finally defend his IBF junior middleweight title, having to do it in Mexico because he's banned in the USA. Molina hasn't fought since winning the belt from Ishe Smith just over a year ago. Bundrage is a former titlist and contender, now 41, whose last fight came in January of this year, a win over Joey Hernandez. Steve Bunce will hopefully be in studio for the very late UK night, because he's dynamite when he's tired. BLH will have live coverage.
beIN Sports Espanol / Azteca (MEX), 11:00 pm EDT, Jorge Paez Jr vs Aaron Herrera, Miguel Berchelt vs Antonio Escalante, Ivan Montero vs Julio Cesar Avalos.
