Watch your ankles today, folks—it appears everyone's tweaking them. First we get news that Canelo Alvarez hurt his ankle and scrapped his fight with Josh Clottey. Now we hear heavyweight Odlanier Solis has pulled out of his October 18th rematch with Tony Thompson due to an ankle sprain.
WHO'S NEXT??
The tentative rescheduled date is November 22nd.
Thompson beat Solis by split decision in their first fight which took place this past March. Both men have been turned back by Klitschkos in title shots, Thompson by Wladimir (twice) and Solis by Vitali. Solis suffered a first round stoppage when he blew out his knee and couldn't continue. He apparently has very fragile legs.
The winner of this bout would hypothetically be in line for yet another shot at the title because, heck, who else is Wladimir going to fight? Though chances are that won't hold up if Thompson wins. The world doesn't need a Klitschko-Thompson trilogy.
