Tonight at 9:00 pm EDT on ESPN2 from the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, Miss., Sam Soliman of Australia will defend his IBF middleweight title against former undisputed champion Jermain Taylor in a 12-round main event, with Andre Dirrell back in the co-feature.
Soliman (44-11, 18 KO) is a solid favorite for most boxing fans tonight, and listed at -300 by Bodog, with Taylor (32-4-1, 20 KO) at +230. It's a meeting of veterans, and though Soliman, 40, is older and smaller than Taylor, 36, he's been fighting well of late, while Jermain still hasn't convinced anyone he's an actual contender again since his 2011 comeback, during which he's gone 4-0.
Taylor last fought in Decmeber 2013, beating Juan Carlos Candelo in San Antonio. Soliman's last outing was a win in Germany over Felix Sturm on May 31, where he captured the IBF belt.
Dirrell (22-1, 15 KO) will be facing Nick Brinson (16-2-2, 6 KO) in the 10-round super middleweight co-feature as "The Matrix" continues his own comeback bid, or whatever it is that he's doing.
