The scheduled December 13 fight between Timothy Bradley and Diego Chaves, which was to air on HBO from Las Vegas, may be in trouble, as TyC Sports in Argentina is reporting that the fight is off due to the sides being unable to come to financial terms.
Top Rank has already held a press conference for the fight, so this seems a little odd, as you'd think they would have had contracts signed and all that. Chaves (23-2, 19 KO) may also wind up being paid what he wants, or a compromise reached, because the fight is just six weeks away at this point and it would be tough to find a credible foe for Bradley (31-1, 12 KO) in that time, especially with the fight in the middle of the holiday season, which many boxers use as something of a break.
A source did tell me that this is "typical stuff," and that Chaves remains training daily, intending to fight.
Mauricio Herrera vs Jose Benavidez Jr and Matt Korobov vs Andy Lee are also set for the 12/13 HBO broadcast, which of course Top Rank is promoting.
