Macklin vs Heiland: Live streaming results and round by round coverage

Matthew Macklin faces Jorge Heiland in the main event, with Kal Yafai, Spike O'Sullivan, and John Joe Nevin on the undercard in Dublin.

USA TODAY Sports

This afternoon from 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, Matthew Macklin returns to action to face Argentina's Jorge Heiland in the main event of a four-fight bill on Sky Sports, which starts at 2:30 pm EST. BLH will be here with live coverage.

Macklin (31-5, 20 KO) hasn't fought in Ireland for five years, since a December 2009 win over Rafael sosa Pintos at National Stadium, also in Dublin. Since then, he's come up short in three world title fights against Felix Sturm (controversially), Sergio Martinez, and Gennady Golovkin, and also won the European middleweight title. Now 32, Macklin is aiming to hang on as a middleweight contender, and possibly land a fourth title shot sometime in 2015.

Heiland (24-4-2, 12 KO) is a 27-year-old southpaw who can fight a little, but doesn't figure to be a serious challenge for Macklin. His biggest fight probably came in July 2010, when he lost in Germany to Sebastian Zbik. He also has losses to Nilson Tapia, Billi Godoy, and Mateo Damian Veron, a club fighter he's beaten twice in three fights. He also avenged his 2012 loss to Godoy in November 2013.

Macklin vs Heiland is set for 12 rounds.

Super flyweight prospect Kal Yafai (12-0, 9 KO) will face Everth Briceno (35-9-2, 26 KO) in a 12-round bout, too. Briceno, a 36-year-old Nicaraguan, has past losses to Fernando Montiel, Omar Narvaez, and Leo Santa Cruz, among others. His last bout was an eight-round split decision loss to Carlos Rueda on August 29. His last five fights have all been against Rueda (three times) and club fighter Elvis Guillen (twice), dating back to May 2012.

Middleweights Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan (17-1, 10 KO) and Anthony Fitzgerald (16-6, 4 KO) will meet in a 10-round bout, and 2012 Irish Olympian John Joe Nevin (2-0, 1 KO), a silver medalist at bantamweight, will face Jack Heath (3-7, 2 KO) in a six-round super featherweight bout.
