CBS Sports Network premieres new boxing series on December 13

Boxing will be coming to CBS Sports Network starting in December.

Mike Lee and Charles Martin will be part of the first edition of Ringside Red Carpet, the new live boxing series from CBS Sports Network. Before anyone gets too excited, the show, at least for now, appears to be a mid-level (at best) series without much money behind it.

The show will premiere on December 13 at 8:00 pm EST, and is unlikely to draw much attention thanks to the fact that both HBO and Showtime are airing far better cards that night.

That doesn't mean, of course, that there won't be good fights, even though boxing fans are keenly aware that second-tier series often quickly turn into mismatch showcases that nobody really watches.

Lee (13-0, 7 KO) is one of the more oddly semi-famous fighters in the sport today, a 27-year-old non-prospect light heavyweight who has turned his degree from the University of Notre Dame into minor celebrity, including a puzzling spot in Subway's line of commercials featuring mostly actual famous athletes.

Charles Martin (18-0-1, 16 KO) will be the night's main event fighter, though, and he might be intriguing. Martin, 28, has a nice KO percentage, and the St. Louis-born southpaw does have wins over familiar club names like Kertson Manswell and Joey Dawejko.

Neither Martin nor Lee yet have an opponent. The series will get a two-hour live block for each episode.
