Actor turned boxer turned actor Mickey Rourke is going to turn boxer again for a one-off fight in Russia, according to reports, and is being trained by Freddie Roach for the November 28 bout.
Rourke, who had a pro record of 6-0-2 (4 KO) in four-round fights from 1991-94, is now 62 years old. His acting career was revived in 2008, when he starred in Darren Aronofsky's acclaimed film The Wrestler, but has tailed off again somewhat since then.
Rourke will be fighting 29-year-old Elliot Seymour, a Pasadena, California, native who has a career record of 1-9 (1 KO). He made his pro debut in 2008.
Rourke is supposedly in good shape, because it would be pretty dumb to say he's in bad shape, or focus on the fact that he's 62 years old, or that he hasn't fought professionally in 20 years, and that he was never a serious pro fighter.
This is a fascinating story, obviously. Maybe that's not the word. What's the word? I don't know.
