Manny Pacquiao scored somewhere between six and 205 knockdowns for all it really mattered in an embarrassingly one-sided rout that was the main event of a $70 pay-per-view from the Venetian Resort in Macau, China, routing Chris Algieri on scores of 119-103, 119-103, and 120-102. BLH had it 119-103 for Pacquiao, giving Algieri the fifth round.
Algieri (20-1, 8 KO) was totally outclassed in every conceivable way. This was not a competitive fight in any way. Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO) dominated the fight from start to finish, as Algieri never managed to achieve anything offensively.
Now, due credit to both. Algieri is a very tough, very determined fighter. He's a good fighter. But there are levels, and this one was well above his. And Pacquiao's offense and defense were both very sharp, giving Algieri nothing to work with. That's credit to Pacquiao. But Manny also had it as easily as he did because this was a mismatch that, quite frankly, should not have happened. Not at this level.
Pacquiao briefly addressed the Floyd Mayweather question after the fight, making a joke about his recent Foot Locker commercial, and said he's ready to fight anyone.
Algieri was a class act after the fight, saying they had a plan that simply didn't work, because Pacquiao was too good.
Were you upset with this fight, especially for PPV money? Were you just impressed with Manny?
