Amir Khan has $50,000 gold trunks for Alexander fight

Amir Khan talks $50,000 gold trunks, Tim Bradley, and fatherhood.

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

On his recent birthday celebrations

"I celebrated by going to the gym and training. I'll take care of that after the fight. At the moment, I'm just 100% focused on the task at hand, and I'm gonna keep focused on that fight. Hopefully after the fight, I'll get to party and enjoy my birthday. ... I'm 28. I'm getting up there. I've been around for such a long time, and I'm getting older. ... My family right now, my wife and my baby girl, a lot's changed in my life. It just matures you. I feel physically in better shape than I did when I was 25, 26. I feel in great shape. As I get older, I'm not cheating myself. I'm much more disciplined on my diet and stuff. I know as you get older, you start slowing down, but for some reason I'm not. My power and everything has developed."

On fight weeks now that he's a father

"I think it motivates me more than anything. Everything I'm doing, I'm doing it for my family. I'm doing it for my baby girl. I want them to have an easier life. Everything I do in my sport of boxing is for them. When my daughter grows up, I want people saying to her, 'Your dad was a great fighter.' Everything I'm doing now is for the future, for my kids, for my family, financially securing them and everything else."

On his $50,000 custom shorts

"It's around about that much. ... I'm a member of 24 Karat Clothing. When you're a member, they supplied me a waist that's going to be real gold thread, made of real gold. The whole shorts are going to be leather. Then I've got a fight label, a clothing company to make my shorts. Nearly $50,000. ... Even if I got blood on them, I'll put them in a nice frame. But I'm thinking of giving them to charity or something, anyway. I want someone to make use of it and it goes for a good cause. And the money raised for it will go towards charity."

On Timothy Bradley

"Bradley's a great fighter. I want to fight the best fighters out there. Bradley's a name I was supposed to fight a long time ago. He didn't take the fight twice. Really, he can never say that he wanted to fight me and it didn't happen. It was because of him. But those fights are in the future. I'm focused more on Alexander and I'm going to get this fight out of the way first, and see what the future holds for me.
