Adonis "Superman" Stevenson will make the fourth defense of his WBC and RING Magazine light heavyweight championships tonight in Quebec City, facing fringe contender Dmitry Sukhotsky in the second fight of a disappointing year for the 2013 RING Fighter of the Year.
Stevenson (24-1, 20 KO) is the heavy favorite tonight against Sukhotsky (22-2, 16 KO), a 33-year-old Russian who has not proven himself to be a serious world stage performer to date. His two losses came against Juergen Braehmer and Cornelius White in 2009 and 2012, both by decision. He's won four in a row right now.
Stevenson beat Andrzej Fonfara in his last fight on May 24, a tougher than anticipated night after a dominant 2013 that saw him stop Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud, and Tony Bellew with ease.
Also featured on tonight's bill:
- Andre Dirrell (23-1, 16 KO) vs Derek Edwards (27-3-1, 14 KO), super middleweights, 12 rounds
- Jo Jo Dan (33-2, 18 KO) vs Kevin Bizier (23-1, 16 KO), welterweights, 12 rounds
- Artur Beterbiev (6-0, 6 KO) vs Jeff Page Jr (15-0, 10 KO), light heavyweights, 10 rounds
