Heavyweight David Price, who has been trying to get his career back on track in Germany, will not be fighting as scheduled on Saturday, as the 31-year-old Liverpool native has withdrawn with a tear in his left biceps.
Price (18-2, 15 KO) has won three get-well fights in a row since a pair of losses in 2013 against Tony Thompson, which led to ex-promoter Frank Maloney retiring from the sport, and Price relocating to Sauerland Event. The 6'8" giant still hopes to find his footing and become a heavyweight contender.
Price said he was in great shape leading up to the fight, and says he'll be fine in a week or two, which could indicate an early 2015 return to action. Price was just coming off of an injury suffered in his last fight, a 10-round decision win against Yaroslav Zavorotnyi in June.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland predicts that 2015 will be a "huge year" for Price. Do you think Price can fine tune his game and emerge as the contender he was thought to be prior to the Thompson losses?
