Tonight at 10 pm EST on Showtime Extreme, Showtime closes out its boxing year officially with a four-fight bill from the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Washington, headlined by a 12-round featherweight bout between Jesus Cuellar and Ruben Tamayo.
Cuellar (25-1, 19 KO) currently holds the interim WBA title, and will be defending that against Tamayo (25-3-4, 17 KO). Cuellar hasn't lost since 2011, and this year has wins over former super bantamweight titleholders Rico Ramos and Juan Manuel Lopez. Tamayo is a non-contender on paper, but beat Efrain Esquivias in his last fight on April 25.
Also featured on the card will be the return of Gary Russell Jr (24-1, 14 KO), who looks to bounce back from his June loss to Vasyl Lomachenko. Russell will be facing Christopher Martin (28-4-3, 9 KO) in a 10-round fight. Martin has lost two of his last three, and was knocked out in six by Miguel Marriaga in his last fight on October 1. This fight was not originally scheduled for the TV card, but was bumped up when Anthony Peterson lost his original opponent.
Julian "J-Rock" Williams (17-0-1, 10 KO) will also return, as the junior middleweight prospect will face Jamar Freeman (13-3-2, 7 KO). Rounding out the card will be super middleweight prospect Julius Jackson (18-0, 14 KO) taking on Jonathan Nelson (19-1, 9 KO). Both of those fights are set for 10 rounds.
