Randy Caballero, who won the vacant IBF bantamweight title on October 25 in Monaco, will be returning to California for his first title defense, as he'll face Alberto Guevara on FOX Sports 1 from the Fantasy Springs Casino on February 27.
Caballero (22-0, 13 KO) went about even with Stuart Hall in his title-winning effort, with the scores solidly going his way on tallies of 116-111 twice and 118-110. The 24-year-old fighter is unbeaten and has a world title belt in his possession now, but he's still not faced the true top fighters of the division, and frankly won't be doing that in his first title defense, either.
Guevara (18-2, 6 KO) is a competent fighter but not a serious contender at 118, despite receiving two world title shots in his last four fights. Not coincidentally, he's 2-2 in his last four fights, and was stopped by Shinsuke Yamanaka in his last outing, which came in November 2013. He was also soundly beaten by Leo Santa Cruz in December 2012, when boxing made its incredibly triumphant return to CBS, setting up many more great afternoons of fights on the broadcast network, which we have all enjoyed immensely since that day.
