Khan or Maidana? Richard Schaefer says Mayweather announcement could come soon

Floyd Mayweather's next fight will be announced within days, says Richard Schaefer. We'll see.

For what seems like the 10th time, Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer says that Floyd Mayweather will likely make an announcement "soon" regarding his May 3 fight on Showtime pay-per-view. The two leading (only) candidates are Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana, and there has been plenty of talk either way.

Khan has reportedly signed a deal to face Mayweather, who is still deciding. Recently, it was reported that Floyd's people sat down with Maidana's team, but the Maidana side said they didn't have a signed deal yet.

"We are not weeks away, but days away [from an announcement]. It's up to Floyd Mayweather on when he wants to push the button, meaning that he will release his announcement on Twitter. In the meantime, I think people should keep a close eye on his Twitter, because suddenly it's going to come."

One time, Floyd said on Twitter that he would face Devon Alexander, but instead he fought Robert Guerrero. So give it a tweet and a press release before you're totally certain. Obviously, we'll freak out and pot about the initial tweet, because that's life in the world today, but then when there's a press release, we'll have that, too.
