Nothing is official but it's looking more and more like it will be Marcos Maidana facing Floyd Mayweather on May 3.
Amir Khan, upset by the fact that Mayweather has yet to announce his next opponent, took to Twitter this evening to vent his frustrations and admit that it appears he is not going to be sharing the ring with Floyd on May 3.
Here are his tweets, in chronological order:
No response from Mayweather or his team. Fights not happening. I should of taken the title fight last December against Alexander...

Very disrespected by his team. Wasted my time

Can I apologies to the thousands of people who are let down. You me and everyone wanted the Mayweather fight. He's running scared.

So Khan's feelings have been predictably shattered by the increasing likelihood that he won't be fighting Mayweather. We can't always go by what someone states on Twitter, but Khan seems pretty confident that it's over for him. If he was going to get it, one would figure that it would have been signed by now given the simple fact that he was the front-runner for a long time until Maidana ruined the plans with a win over Adrien Broner in December. Initially it appeared that Maidana would rematch Broner, but that has been put on hold.
Again, nothing is official, neither Mayweather or Showtime have announced anything, but Khan is claiming that he is not going to be participating in his dream fight on May 3.
