Kell Brook and Amir Khan have a long-standing media rivalry, and with Khan saying he's out of the race to fight Floyd Mayweather on May 3 (though Leonard Ellerbe says he's still a possibility), that means Khan might have an open date, and that his biggest money option could potentially be a fight with Brook.
Brook (31-0, 21 KO) called out Khan (28-3, 19 KO) on Twitter:
Give the public what they want @amirkingkhan - biggest payday out there for you - you can retire rich at least! #AllOfTheLights
— Kell Brook (@SpecialKBrook) February 21, 2014
Khan has paid no attention to Brook lately in the media, and when asked about potential "other" fights for his next outing, he's named Adrien Broner, Lamont Peterson, and Shawn Porter, but not Brook. Khan-Brook would be a big fight in the United Kingdom, but not in the United States, and Khan's career is based in the U.S. at this point. Brook is still pretty much an unknown, though it's a legit fight to be sure, and the U.K. money could be plenty good enough to make the fight a reality anyway.
It doesn't seem likely, but hey, a call out is a call out. Brook is currently slated to return to the ring on March 15 in some type of tune-up bout.
