Today at 2:00 pm EST, BLH will have live streaming video of the Chavez-Vera II weigh-in event from San Antonio as the two prepare for their HBO main event rematch tomorrow night at the Alamodome.
Chavez (47-1-1, 32 KO) and Vera (23-7, 14 KO) are fighting with a standard, 168-pound super middleweight limit this time. Last year, they met at a 173-pound catchweight after Chavez had to renegotiate the fight's maximum weight more than once. On September 28, Chavez won a highly controversial decision in California, controversial enough that he had little choice but to face Vera in a rematch.
Tomorrow night's co-feature is arguably even more interesting, as WBO featherweight titleholder Orlando Salido (40-12-2, 28 KO) will defend his title against super prospect Vasyl Lomachenko (1-0, 1 KO), a two-time Olympic gold medalist who has had just one pro fight, making his debut in Las Vegas on October 12, 2013, part of the Bradley-Marquez pay-per-view. The 26-year-old Ukrainian has skill for days, but there's always been an adjustment period for guys turning pro, no matter their pedigree. Lomachenko is bypassing that.
