Garcia vs Herrera results: Danny Jacobs knocks out Milton Nunez in first round

Danny Jacobs smoked Milton Nunez, blowing out the Colombian with three first round knockdowns tonight in Puerto Rico.

Danny Jacobs got tonight's Garcia-Herrera event in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, off to a big TV start, dropping Milton Nunez three times en route to a first round stoppage victory.

The first and third knockdowns came on left hooks, with the middle flooring courtesy of a right hand. Jacobs (27-1, 24 KO) was simply too skilled and strong for Nunez (26-10-1, 24 KO), a guy known for getting knocked out and having some power but almost no skill set beyond that.

Jacobs, 27, has gone 5-0 now since his 2012 return to the ring after beating cancer, and there has been some talk of him possibly facing WBO middleweight champ Peter Quillin sometime this year.

"I'm rooting for him to win (on April 19)," Jacobs said, saying he wants the title shot in his next fight.

"I'd seen this guy fight before. I knew he couldn't take a real good shot, and all I needed to do was exactly what I did, and that's finish the job," Jacobs told Showtime's Jim Gray after the bout.

Our live coverage of Garcia-Herrera continues here, with the rematch between Juan Manuel Lopez and Daniel Ponce De Leon up next.
