According to Top Rank matchmaker Bruce Trampler, IBF featherweight titleholder Evgeny Gradovich will return to the ring on May 31 in Macao, as part of the Donaire-Vetyeka card.
Right now, the card appears to be headed toward having three featherweight title fights, as Vetyeka will defend the WBA "super" title against Donaire, Gradovich could be defending the IBF belt, and Nicholas Walters could be defending the WBA "regular" title against Alejandro Perez. It's also expected that Brian Viloria will be on the bill.
Gradovich (18-0, 9 KO) won the IBF title from Billy Dib in March 2013 as a short notice opponent, and has defended twice in Macao, against Mauricio Munoz and then Dib in a rematch, winning impressively both times. The 27-year-old "Russian Mexican" doesn't have an opponent set yet for the likely return on May 31, but he's become an exciting fighter to watch.
Who would you like to see Gradovich face among the potential fringe contenders out there?
