Karim Mayfield and Thomas Dulorme stole the show, as it were, at today's Kovalev-Agnew weigh-in in Atlantic City. After both comfortably made weight, the two fighters did some standard jaw-jackin' and trash-talkin', getting all close, right in each others faces, and then...
There was licking. Then there was choking. Then there was a pretty violent little scrap about to break out. Then the teams got in there and tried to pull it apart, which seemed to not help much. Then 6'7", 280-pound New Jersey commissioner Aaron Davis bellowed to the masses, "CLEAR THE STAAAAAAGE!" and the stage was cleared, because he is a very large man with a commanding presence, and is an important boxing official, as well.
Mayfield (18-0-1, 11 KO) and Dulorme (20-1, 14 KO) had a previous run-in this week, too, which was caught by the HBO cameras during interviews. The two will settle it in the ring tomorrow night in a 10-round junior welterweight co-feature.
