Boxcino 2014 results: Fernando Carcamo and Petr Petrov move on to lightweight final

Fernando Carcamo and Petr Petrov won their semifinal bouts tonight in exciting fashion, advancing to the Boxcino lightweight final on May 23.

Fernando Carcamo and Petr Petrov will meet in the Boxcino lightweight tournament final on May 23, after winning semifinal bouts this evening on ESPN Friday Night Fights, both in exciting fashion.

Carcamo (17-5, 13 KO) won a majority decision over Miguel Gonzalez on scores of 78-74, 77-75, and 76-76, flooring Gonzalez hard in the first round. Gonzalez (23-4, 16 KO) did fairly well over the rest of the fight, but the bout was a clear win for Carcamo in my eyes, as well as those of ESPN's Teddy Atlas, who had the fight scored 78-73 for Carcamo. BLH had it 77-74 for the 23-year-old Mexican fighter, who is looking to break out with this tournament performance.

Petrov (34-4-2, 16 KO) stopped a valiant Chris Rudd (13-2, 8 KO) in the second bout of the night, pouring on the pressure and getting him out at 0:51 of the fourth round. Rudd fought incredibly determined and with a lot of heart, but Petrov was able to tag him cleanly too often, and did his job.

So the final most expected coming out of the quarterfinal round is indeed what we'll see at the Turning Stone Casino in two months' time. Who do you favor right now: young Carcamo or the veteran Petrov?
