Jorge Linares routed Nihito Arakawa in a one-sided but pretty entertaining bout on tonight's Canelo-Angulo pay-per-view card, winning a 10-round decision on scores of 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92. BLH had it 99-91 for Linares.

Linares (36-3, 23 KO) was never in any serious danger, as he spent the first few rounds establishing his superiority against the limited but tough Arakawa (24-4-1, 16 KO), and into the middle of the fight, was simply outclassing his opponent. But Arakawa hung in there, which is his trademark in two fights on American TV, and did cut Linares late in the bout, continuing to apply pressure until the final bell.

One gets the impression that if Arakawa had a good straight left hand or simply a little more thump, this fight could have turned out a little differently. Make no mistake, Linares was the superior overall fighter, and by a lot. But there was that sense of tension that comes with a fighter like Linares, and there was that little chance that the fight could turn on a dime. It never got there, but it made for a fight that was worth watching even though it was a pretty easy win.
