Luke Campbell out of Saturday fight, taking break from boxing

Luke Campbell will be taking a break from boxing after his father was diagnosed with cancer.

2012 Olympic gold medalist Luke Campbell was scheduled to fight on the Quigg-Munyai bill this Saturday on Sky Sports, but the 26-year-old lightweight was pulled out of the fight and will be taking a break from the sport after his father was diagnosed with cancer.

"The last few months have been particularly difficult for my family and it's been hard to focus on my training. ... With this in mind, I feel it is only right to be with my family at this difficult time until I can fully focus on my boxing."

Campbell (5-0, 4 KO) has become a draw in Hull already, and is one of the top young prospects in British boxing. Obviously, this is not the usual sort of thing that pulls a boxer out of training and away from his career, but it's clear his family comes first, and that's an admirable thing from anyone, and says a good bit about who he is outside of the ring. Hopefully he'll be back soon.
