Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal is currently a free agent, and reportedly has an offer to leave Groupe Yvon Michel, his longtime promoter, according to a report at RDS.
Michel says that they've made an offer to Pascal, but that if Pascal gets an offer they cannot match, they'll simply wish him the best with his career. The 31-year-old Pascal last fought on January 18, beating Lucian Bute in Montreal, re-establishing himself as a serious light heavyweight contender. Pascal was also mentioned as a possible opponent for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, but it now appears as though Chavez will fight his camp's first choice, Gennady Golovkin.
Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KO) would prefer to stay with GYM, according to the RDS report, citing Pascal's manager Greg Leon as the source. He's one of the biggest draws in Quebec, which has become a boxing hotbed over the last decade or so, and one of the best fight cities in the world, and could be a very attractive opponent for any of the top names at 175 pounds.
