After last night's TKO-4 loss to Shawn Porter, Paulie Malignaggi was taken to the hopsital, reportedly leaving the building on a stretcher with oxygen, according to word from the arena. Later, Showtime's Mauro Ranallo confirmed on the air that Malignaggi had been taken in for "precautionary measures."
Showtime's Stephen Espinoza had an update today, and it's one we can be happy about:
Good news: Paulie Malignaggi will be released from the hospital shortly. CAT scans were clean, and all other tests were normal.

Malignaggi (33-6, 7 KO) was overwhelmed by the strength and speed of Porter (25-0-1, 14 KO), who flat-out demolished him. In a post-fight interview with Jim Gray, an emotional Malignaggi seemed to be near tears as he contemplated retirement. Though the tests came out well, being rushed to the hospital might be the final argument that the always honest fighter needs to hang up the gloves and go into broadcasting full time, something for which he's earned rave reviews thus far.
