British Olympian and 2012 Olympic middleweight bronze medalist Anthony Ogogo will make his Las Vegas debut on May 3, as the 25-year-old fighter will be part of the Mayweather vs Maidana undercard at the MGM Grand. Ogogo will fight on the preliminary portion of the show, before the Showtime pay-per-view goes live.
Ogogo (5-0, 2 KO) turned pro in April 2013, and made his U.S. debut in Atlantic City on May 18, part of Peterson-Matthysse bill, promoted by Golden Boy and Matchroom Boxing.
"It's an honor for me to be on the show and I can't wait for May 3rd," said Ogogo. "I've had a great training camp and hope to be in the best shape of my career for this fight. Some British fighters never get the chance to fight in Las Vegas and to do so in my sixth fight is a real achievement and will be a fantastic moment for me."
Richard Schaefer says he's excited to bring the young fighter over on such a big card.
"British fans already know the great potential Anthony has and the charisma he possesses in and out of the ring," said Schaefer. "Now on one of the biggest nights of the year in boxing, fans and media in Las Vegas will get to see what all of the excitement is about. We're looking forward to having Anthony on 'The Moment' fight card."
Ogogo's opponent has not yet been named.
