Friday Night Fights and ShoBox (May 16, 2014): Live streaming results and updates

Tom Casino/SHOWTIME

There are two cards featured on U.S. TV tonight, with ESPN Friday Night Fights and ShoBox: The New Generation both back, and BLH will be here with live coverage and chatter for both events.

We'll start first at 9:00 pm EDT with ESPN Friday Night Fights, featuring Delvin Rodriguez vs Joachim Alcine in the 10-round junior middleweight main event from Olympic Stadium in Montreal. This is the first fight at Olympic Stadium since Leonard-Duran in 1980. Rodriguez (28-7-3, 16 KO) is looking to rebound from a one-sided loss last October to Miguel Cotto. Alcine (35-7-1, 24 KO) is a former titleholder from what feels like ages ago. Both guys are still solid pros, and right on about the same gatekeeper level.

In the co-feature, heavyweight Joe Hanks (21-1, 14 KO) will try to come back from his first career loss against veteran Derric Rossy (28-8, 14 KO). Hanks was stopped in four by Andy Ruiz Jr last July in Macau. Rossy, 33, has lost two straight to Fres Oquendo and Joey Dawejko.

Over on ShoBox at 10:00 pm EDT, super featherweights Joel Diaz Jr (15-0, 12 KO) and Tyler Asselstine (14-1, 7 KO) meet in a 10-round main event. Diaz is an exciting young action prospect. Asselstine has won two straight since a mild upset loss to Baha Laham in February 2013. Also on the card, junior middleweights Frank Galarza (13-0-2, 9 KO) and Sebastien Bouchard (8-0, 2 KO) meet in an eight-round fight.
