Former junior middleweight titleholder Ishe Smith returns to the ring tonight in a makeshift main event against replacement opponent Ryan Davis, headlining a triple-header on FOX Sports 1 from Las Vegas, an appetizer for tomorrow night's Mayweather-Maidana PPV event.
Smith (25-6, 11 KO) was originally due to face WBA junior middleweight titleholder Erislandy Lara tonight, but Lara scrapped that fight when he got the offer to face Canelo Alvarez on July 12. Davis (24-13-3, 9 KO) is a club fighter whose record pretty well reflects his quality.
The other two bouts are better matchups, though. In a 10-round lightweight bout, Mickey Bey (19-1-1, 10 KO) will face tough Alan Herrera (32-5, 21 KO) in a fight that Bey has to win to stay in the race to get into the mix (both!) at 135 pounds. And in a 12-round featherweight bout, noted TV dud Rico Ramos (23-3, 12 KO) will face Jesus Cuellar (23-1, 18 KO).
The show goes live at 10:00 pm EDT.
