According to the Philadelphia Inqurier, Danny "Swift" Garcia will return to defend his WBA and WBC junior welterweight titles, along with The RING Magazine championship, on August 9 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, live on Showtime.
That night's card will also feature an IBF welterweight title fight between Shawn Porter and Kell Brook, a middleweight bout between Daniel Jacobs and Jarrod Fletcher, and the return of Lamont Peterson, which begs the question of whether or not we'll be seeing Garcia vs Peterson.
One rumored non-Peterson opponent is Gabriel "Tito" Bracero (23-1, 4 KO), a 33-year-old club fighter and non-contender. Bracero last fought in November, beating another New York guy who pumped his name up bigger than his ability, Dmitriy Salita. Bracero is a Brooklyn native and Puerto Rican, so the idea behind the fight is pretty obvious, but it would be a really weak fight for Garcia coming off of a debated win over Mauricio Herrera in Puerto Rico.
