Here's a grain of salt–take it.
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn tells ESPN UK that talks are ongoing for an all-UK super middleweight matchup between Carl Froch and James DeGale. DeGale was recently installed by the IBF as Froch's mandatory challenger.
The IBF has ordered the fight to take place before February, which seems awfully far away. Both fighters were in the ring this past May at Wembley Stadium, where Froch flattened George Grove in their rematch and DeGale stopped Brandon Gonzalez. One has to think they'll fight at least once more before early 2015.
As Froch nears the end of his impressive run, I wouldn't be surprised if he chases big money fights or "legacy" type fights instead of clinging to the IBF strap. A potential third fight with Mikkel Kessler looms, and talk of a rematch with Andre Ward has come and gone. There's also the mouthwatering possibility of a clash with Julio Caesar Chavez Jr.
A DeGale fight would probably do good numbers in the UK, but Froch has made it no secret that he wants international attention, and specifically wants to fight in Las Vegas.
Froch has said he'll be taking the summer off so we may not know his next move until he's back from vacation with his ridiculously good looking girlfriend/baby mama.
Do you think Froch will continue battling on his home soil, or is Hearn just keeping DeGale in the news?
