Today at 2:00 pm EDT on BoxNation (UK), Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly co-headline at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, as the two likely head toward a rematch later this year if they can get past today's fights with victories.
Bellew (21-2-1, 13 KO) and Cleverly (27-1, 13 KO) have both moved up to cruiserweight following world title defeats at 175 pounds, and have been scheduled in tune-up bouts here as they move toward an inevitable rematch of their 2011 light heavyweight fight, which Cleverly won by majority decision.
Tonight, Bellew will face Brazil's Julio Cesar Dos Santos (26-2, 23 KO), a 36-year-old veteran with a record that looks good until you actually look at who's on it, and Cleverly will take on his usual level of opposition in 31-year-old Argentine Alejandro Emilio Valori (15-4, 11 KO).
Undercard
2012 Olympic standouts are in action all over the card, too. Anthony Joshua (6-0, 6 KO) faces 47-year-old Matt Skelton (28-8, 23 KO); lightweight gold medalist Luke Campbell (5-0, 4 KO) returns to face Craig Woodruff (5-3, 2 KO); and Anthony Ogogo (6-0, 3 KO) takes on Wayne Reed (10-8, 5 KO). Those fights are all set for six rounds.
Rocky Fielding (18-0, 10 KO) will meet Noe Gonzalez (30-3, 22 KO) in super middleweight action, which is a matchup quite similar to the Bellew-Dos Santos and Cleverly-Valori fights.
Callum Smith (11-0, 9 KO) matches up against Vladine Biosse (15-3-2, 7 KO), who has gone 4-3-2 in his last nine fights after an 11-0 start to his career.
Stephen Smith (19-1, 12 KO) is set to face Pedro Navarrete (28-18-3, 17 KO).
