Well that didn't take long.
Tomoki Kameda made quite a splash this past Saturday on the undercard of Canelo-Lara. Fighting on Showtime's "Countdown" show ahead of the PPV--and therefore free to all subscribers--Kameda flattened Thailand's Pungluang Sor Singyu with one of the best left hooks to the liver you'll ever see.
In case you missed it, here's the GIF, courtesy Zombie Prophet:
And like a swift hook to the liver, Kameda is now the latest addition to Al Haymon's formidable stable of fighters. This according to a report by The RING.
An interesting twist to the story ... As I understand it, the fighting Kameda brothers are currently barred from fighting in their home country of Japan due to an investigation of wrongdoing at their gym which is run by their father. That being the case, the fighters are clearly looking for avenues to keep fighting, and signing with Al Haymon is one way to get it done.
Kameda addressed a rumor that his brothers have also signed:
"Once they do sign or do not sign, you guys will be the first to know," said Tomoki Kameda. "My two brothers are in Japan, and, obviously, their dream is to come to the United States as well and to fight here. Right now, at this moment, I'm the one who has signed with Al. But anything is possible."
Are we surprised? Should we start listing the fighters Kameda won't face now?
