It was supposed to be Tyson Fury vs Dereck Chisora in a highly-anticipated rematch. It was then going to be Fury against fellow giant Alexander Ustinov, after Chisora withdrew due to injury. And now, there's no heavyweight main event at all in Manchester, as Fury has backed out of the fight due to his uncle taking ill. But the show will go on this afternoon on BoxNation at 3:30 pm EDT.
In the new makeshift main event, Billy Joe Saunders (19-0, 10 KO) will face Emanuele Blandamura (22-0, 5 KO) for the vacant European middleweight title. Also in middleweight action, Chris Eubank Jr (16-0, 11 KO) will face Ivan Jukic (19-2, 12 KO). Saunders and Eubank have talked plenty about one another in their young careers, and may be on a collision course that could see them battle by the end of 2014, or at least in 2015. Or maybe never. It's boxing.
Also: Terry Flanagan (24-0, 8 KO) faces Martin Gethin (24-5-1, 11 KO) for the vacant British lightweight title; Liam Smith (16-0-1, 6 KO) defends the British junior middleweight title against Jason Welborn (15-2, 6 KO); and many more prospects are in action. Plus, Eddie Chambers continues his new British career beating up inferiors.
