ShoBox Results (July 25, 2014): Douglas and Soro go to draw, wins for Odom, McCalla, and Luis

The 200th edition of ShoBox: The New Generation kept the show's mission statement, as we saw one prospect knocked off, another pair going to a main event draw, and a dramatic stoppage win.

Antoine Douglas D-10 Michel Soro

I was pretty tired by the time this fight rolled around, so here's what I'm going to remember most:

  1. Lights went out.
  2. Mama Douglas.
  3. A glove broke in the fourth (?) round.
  4. Mama Douglas.
  5. Steve Farhood & Mama Douglas.
Scores were 95-95, 95-95 and 96-94 Soro.

Jerry Odom TKO-7 Vilier Quinonez

Quinonez (8-1, 5 KO) was probably winning the fight at the time of stoppage, and Odom (12-0, 11 KO) came up big when he needed it, scoring the stoppage at 2:25 of the penultimate round. An emotional Odom broke down after getting through what has to have been easily the toughest test of his young career.

Cecil McCalla UD-8 Oscar Godoy

McCalla (19-0, 6 KO) dominated this one, beating short notice opponent Godoy (13-3, 6 KO) on scores of 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73.

Tony Luis UD-8 Wanzell Ellison

Wanzell Ellison apparently told the SHO team that he likened himself to Roy Jones Jr and Sugar Ray Leonard, only more aggressive. No. Luis (18-2, 7 KO) won clean and clear on scores of 77-75, 78-74, and 79-73. Ellison (11-1-1, 5 KO) feigned surprise.
